Tackling the Issue

The mentoring program will service youth who have been abused or have been put through the juvenile system. Participants will be engaged with a full time mentor.  The mentoring program will serve up to 50 participants at full capacity.  We plan to provide these services on a weekly basis on Saturdays from 10am to 12pm.

Making a Difference

The Art Inspired Healing Collective presents, The Miseducation of Self: An Art Inspired Healing Look at Self Awareness... which uses Lauryn Hill's Miseducation album as a guide to create an experience allowing youth to explore and express their feelings and emotions in a safe space. Using 6 songs to build lessons around the 12 Stages of Healing, this program takes into account the importance of self awareness, and creates a forum for rehabilitation and restoration for our youth using music, activities, projects, discussions, and self expression. We will be using The Dallas City of Learning website for most of the content. There will be an open mic for all participants to present their expressions at Pan African Connection Bookstore and Art Gallery. Pre-teens and teens have the flexibility to build from the stage of healing they are currently experiencing. The well-being of our youth matter, and this program is the forum.

Doing What’s Needed

Uzima is a Swahili word denoting the fullness of life. The mission of this institute is therefore the service of life to its fullness. This is to be attained through an approach that integrates nature, the human and the Divine aspects of being in the quest of a holistic approach to educating ourselves and our children through science and development.

Focusing On Our Artists

Alternate ROOTS supports the creation and presentation of original art that is rooted in community, place, tradition or spirit. We are a group of artists and cultural organizers based in the South creating a better world together. As Alternate ROOTS, we call for social and economic justice and are working to dismantle all forms of oppression – everywhere.

Poetry + Healing = PH Balance Open Mic

Preparing For A Brigher Future

The PH (Poetry+Healing) Balance Open-Mic was created by Jonathan GNO White, King Shakur, and 2 Inspire Peace as a forum to allow those that have not had a voice, an opportunity to speak. So much silence and shame has been stifling our generations for years, and thereby increasing the mental, emotional, and physical health of those affected. But, where can they be heard? How do we begin to move forward?
The PH Balance experience offers not only an high vibrational ambiance and forum to release, but the vendors and resources present at the event to offer the opportunity in one form or another to provide solutions and resources for what the next step of healing is for whomever is looking for it.
